A 10+ acre slopover from the previous day’s burnout continues to present problems and compromise the trigger points for evacuation of Hayfork. Fire managers say it will take 3 Type 1 Crews to safely address the slopover. Rapid surface rates of spread. Fire made short crown runs with 1/2 mile spotting.

This may be the last 209 report that includes updates, costs and acreage for the Yellow Fire, The Vinegar Fire, the Trough Fire and the Grouse Fire. The Yolla Bolly Complex which will encompass these fires will be taking over these fires at 0600 this morning. Larson’s Type 1 Team will be in charge of this complex. When this happens the Lime Complex will drop significantly in acreage. We will attempt to sort out the bureaucratic sleight-of-hand and continue to report on all these fires.

The Lime Complex will be losing the 200 National Guard personnel. Fire managers are worried that the remaining crews will be unable to contain the fires and to protect the community of Hayfork.
