The Davis Fire began as a prescribed burn on the Lincoln District of the Helena National Forest. The fire has burned out of the management area and is now declared a wildland fire.

New acreage estimate: 156 Acres of BLM, 383 acres of private land and 1476 acres of USFS, but really, who knows? It is very difficult for government functionaries to read a map.

Conducted incident within an incident simulation to assess Dutch Creek protocol [emergency removal of injured firefighters]. The USFS has tremendous concern for firefighter safety, but much less concern for residents, homeowners, taxpayers.

The Davis Fire began as a prescribed burn on the Lincoln District of the Helena National Forest. The fire has burned out of the management area and is now declared a wildland fire. Lewis & Clark County Sheriff Dutton has ordered evacuations of homes located along Stemple Pass Road over to Highway 279 (Lincoln Road). Canyon Creek school is set-up for residents who have been evacuated from their homes.

Fire was lit by Helena NF personnel on a Red Flag Warning day. It grew from 20 acres to 2,800 acres yesterday afternoon. See [here]
