WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- President Barack Obama’s climate czar said Sunday the Environmental Protection Agency will soon issue a rule on the regulation of carbon dioxide, finding that it represents a danger to the public.
The White House is pressing Congress to draft and pass legislation that would cut greenhouse gases by 80% of 1990 levels by 2050, threatening to use authority under the Clean Air Act if legislators don’t move fast enough or create strong enough provisions.
This is tragic because it will undercut an already reeling economy for no (zero, nada) effect on global temperatures or climate.
Despite the FACTS that CO2 is not a pollutant, and that there is no global warming, and that warming would be a good thing if it happened, we will all suffer the oppression of Gummit Gone Bonkers.
Carbon dioxide is the fundamental nutrient of Life, the essential precursor of photosynthesis. It is manifestly not a pollutant. The planet has been cooling for the last ten years, even though atmospheric C02 levels have allegedly been increasing. That means the theory that CO2 drives global temperature change has been proven to be false. Warmer is better; warmer climates have greater agricultural and biological productivity and diversity. The warmest places in the U.S. are also the most productive. The same is true worldwide.
The horrific insanity of global warming alarmism has infected Washington DC and is being perpetrated by some of the worst elements ever to hold sway there. This latest outrage is being promoted by self-professed Marxist and former Clintonista Carol Browner:
Carol Browner, Obama’s special advisor on climate change and energy, also said the administration is seeking to establish a national standard for auto emissions that could mean tougher efficiency mandates for auto makers. The new standard could be fashioned after strict proposals developed in California that would limit greenhouse gas emissions …

According to testimony in a freedom of information lawsuit filed against EPA by the Landmark Legal Foundation, a Virginia-based conservative legal watchdog group, Browner commanded a computer technician on Jan. 19, 2001: “‘I would like my files deleted. I want you to delete my files.” Not coincidentally, the Landmark Legal Foundation had been pressing Browner to fully and publicly disclose the names of any special interest groups that may have influenced her wave of last-minute regulatory actions. Two days before she told her technician to purge all her records, EPA had gone to court to file a motion opposing the federal court injunction protecting those government documents.
Obama campaigned on theme of “change” yet upon taking office has appointed the same old Clinton crooks, the same atrocious and wrong-headed corrupt administrators of yesteryear. Their new goal is to nationalize the banks and smash American industry with an iron fist. From the CNN Money.com article:

Industry fears it could shut down the economy, not only preventing plants from operating and spurring a dramatic retooling of the energy sector but also pushing up costs and hurting the international competitiveness for a raft of sectors. …
The lowest rated Congress in history is on board with the Alarmist agenda.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Friday he aims to pass a climate change bill by the end of the summer, and Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., head of the panel responsible for drafting a CO2 bill, said he wanted a bill approved by the Memorial Day holiday in May.
The Cap and Stifle laws they envision will do nothing to affect climate but will tax the economy into oblivion.
Specifically, Obama wants an economy-wide law - instead of just some major emitting sectors - and to auction off 100% of the emission credits, which analysts say could exponentially increase the cost of emitting …
It is a hoax, similar to the Let It Burn hoax responsible for the incineration of millions of acres of forests every year in the name of environmental “benefit”.
Ironically, the Obama Administration plans to expand wildland fire acreage, a prime source of carbon emissions, while crippling every other aspect of America in the name of reducing carbon emissions.
The CO2 regulations are also being promoted by Nancy Sutley, new Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality. Sutley was an early supporter of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign and served as a member of Clinton’s Southern California Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender advisory board.
She has been widely touted as the first openly gay official in the Obama Administration. Sutley is also African American, as is Lisa Jackson, the new Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, who also is solidly in favor of the the CO2 regulations.
Obama’s new Attorney General called the U.S. a “nation of cowards” last week [here].
WASHINGTON – Eric Holder, the nation’s first black attorney general, said Wednesday the United States was “a nation of cowards” on matters of race, with most Americans avoiding candid discussions of racial issues.
Candidly, Mr. Holder, I have the courage to point out that gender-bent African Americans who wish to inflict the madness of CO2 alarmism into our economic system are doing as much damage to their fellow racial minority as to every other citizen of this country.
Meanwhile, professional GW Alarmists are planning “the largest mass civil disobedience for the climate in U.S. history” to take place in Washington DC on March 2nd [here].
No doubt Mr. Holder will be far too cowardly to hamper that mass lawbreaking. In fact, he and his fellow Clintonista throwback throw-aways will probably be leading the riot.
This once great nation is rapidly submerging into catastrophic economic decline, lawlessness, and Marxist oppression. Those are the “changes” brought to Washington by Barack Obama.
Perhaps we are not as cowardly as Mr. Holder thinks. Or perhaps we are. If we allow this band of leftwing crazies to cut our collective throat, then Mr. Holder will be proven correct.
