The fire was fully contained today and crews will continue to mop up well with the containment lines to suppress heat sources and smoke. One fire fighter was burned today while mopping up, received partial thickness burns to his leg and was transported to local hospital.

Demobilization of resources in support of other incidents has begun. There is a tentative plan to return the fire back to the Inyo National Forest on 8/10/2008 at 0600hrs.

Crews were able to establish water handling operations from the top and bottom of the fire. This will allow the firefighters to mop up the fire well within the containment lines and prevent any further spread of the fire.

Crews will continue to implement direct attack on the fire. Structure protection in the immediate fire area as well as for the Town of Mammoth Lakes. Building lines in critical areas of the fire. Crews where unable to work some areas of the fire due to snags and heavy dead and down fuels. The majority of fire activity was interior with no apprehensible fire growth.

The fire was able to support initial attack in the Eastern Sierra/Inyo National Forest, providing handcrews, aircraft and engines.

Fire is backing down the ridge towards a private group camp with ~10 cabins and YMCA camp with 10-15 cabins. Moderate runs and individual tree torching.
